Aloo tikki Chaat



Small spicy 'Tikkies' or patties of potatoes topped with spicy mint chutney, tangy tamarind chutney (A must for all chaat items) and garnished as per individual liking. A simple dish to assemble once you have your ingredients ready. It is tasty , yummy and filling also. Makes for a great snack.
'Chaat' is one of the most famous of street foods in India.. Combination of textures and flavours , sweet, tangy spicy crispy all rolled into one. Easily available as street food for a very economical price is what mkes 'chaat' dishes the most popular dishes. Enjoyed by young and old alike. 

INGREDIENTS :

FOR THE POTATO PATTIES/TIKKIES :

4 Medium sized potatoes boiled and mashed .
Paste of 4 green chillies, 1 inch ginger, 5-6 garlic pods and small bunch of coriander.
pinch of hing
turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
salt to taste.

METHOD :

1. Mix all the above ingredients well.
2. Take a small portion in your hand and roll and press flat to form 'tikkies' or 'patties' of desired shape and size. (Wet your hand slightly so the mixture does not stick to your hand)
3. Heat a pan or gridle. Add little Oil and Shallow fry these patties till nice,crisp and golden brown on both sides. 
4. Drain on an absorbent kitchen napkin and keep aside.

REMAINING INGREDIENTS :

Spicy Mint Chutney (Click for recipe)
Sweet Dates and Tamarind chutney
2 Onions finely chopped
Crispy 'Shev' 1 Bowl
Pomegranate kernels  1 Bowl
Finely chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
Chaat masala   

ASSEMBLING THE ALOO TIKKI :

1. In a plate place 2 to 3 of the Aloo tikkies.
2. On each of the tikkies, add spicy mint chutney and sweet tamarind chutney (Adjust each qty as per your liking)
3. Add the chopped onion.
4. Sprinkle some 'Shev' over the tikkies. 
5. Sprinkle a pinch or two of chaat masala.
6. Finally garnish with pomegranate kernels and chopped coriander.
7. A delicious , mouthwatering snack is ready in no time.
