Bread rolls

Bread slices stuffed with a simple potato mixture. Rolled and sealed. Deep fried to a rich golden brown colour. These crisp rolls are an absolute favourite at home. Easily prepared with minimal ingredients usually available in our kitchen . Hope you enjoy making these rolls .

INGREDIENTS :

FOR THE STUFFING

4 Medium sized potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed.
6 to 8 green chillies
2 inches ginger
8 to 10 cloves garlic
Handful of chopped coriander
salt to taste.

1. Grind together the ginger, garlic, chillies and coriander in a mixer without adding any water at all.
2. Add this and the salt to the mashed potato . Your stuffing is ready.

FOR THE ROLLS :

Bread slices around 6 to 8 (Note that the bread ideally should not be stale . else the bread slices will break into crumbs while rolling )
little water

Oil for frying

Method :

1. Dip each bread slice in water to moisten it (This makes rolling easier)
2. You can cut the sides of the bread slices if you wish to but we personally prefer keeping them as they really taste nice and crisp after frying.
3. Press the bread slices with both your hands so as to drain out the water from the slices .
4. Put around a spoonful of the Stuffing on this squeezed bread slice.
5. Turn the slice into a roll pressing lightly with both the hands so as to form rolls as shown below.
6. Heat sufficient Oil in a kadai or wok.
7. When the Oil is heated, add the rolls one by one to the Oil.
8. Deep fry till golden brown on all sides.
9. Serve Hot with Tomato ketchup or Coconut Chutney
