Dahi Pohe

A simple preparation, ready in just about a few minutes. This dish is prepared from ingredients that are readily available in the kitchen. Made usually on 'Janmashtami' or the birthday of lord Krishna for the reason that Krishna is believed to love both Dahi (curds) and pohe (Flat beaten rice) a lot . This is also distributed as 'Prasad' or offering to god on the festival of Dahi-Handi..You can prepare it anytime to quickly satisfy your hunger pangs. This is also very easy to digest and can be given as a comfort food to unwell people. Presenting my way of making this simple yet drool-worthy dish .

INGREDIENTS :

Thin Poha (beaten rice) Patla poha 1 Bowl
Dahi/plain yogurt or curds 1/2 bowl
Milk 1/2 bowl
1 inch piece of ginger
Some chopped coriander leaves
Ghee 2 tsp
Jeera or cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
Hing powder a pinch
2 green chillies chopped
Sugar 1 tsp
Salt to taste

METHOD :

1. Take the pohe in a bowl.
2. To this add the beaten curds
3. Add salt , sugar, finely chopped ginger and finely chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.
4. Adjust salt n sugar as per taste.
5. In a pan make tempering or tadka or phodani.
6. Heat ghee in a small wok or tadka pan
7 Add the cumin seeds.
8 Once seeds crackle add the hing powder n chopped chillies.
9. Pour this over the mixture of poha n curds .Mix well.
10 Delicious Dahi pohe is ready to be eaten in a jiffy.
11. The poha keeps soaking the milk and gets dry so consume immediately or you need to add more milk to get a little thin consistency.
